BTU QSE Services Transitions to SoftSmiths Power and SoftSmiths Market-ERCOT 

Houston, TX. – December 7, 2006 – SoftSmiths, Inc., a leading energy software solutions and services company, today announced that BTU QSE Services, Inc transitioned to SoftSmiths Power and SoftSmiths Market-ERCOT for its power trading, resource planning, scheduling, risk measurement, settlement and accounting. BTU QSE Services is responsible for the wholesale power marketing, ancillary service bidding, and energy scheduling and settlement activities on behalf of Bryan Texas Utilities (BTU). BTU has been serving both the City of Bryan and rural customers in east central Texas for almost 100 years.

SoftSmiths Power offers front-to-back functionality for operations, trade capture, scheduling, risk measurement, credit control, wholesale checkout and accounting.

SoftSmiths Market-ERCOT automates the submission of energy and ancillary service schedules and bids to ERCOT, estimates ERCOT charges in a shadow settlement, and consolidates ERCOT market information into a single database. These functions increase the effectiveness of market participant operations by decreasing the time required to submit information to ERCOT and resolve billing charges.
