Position Summary:
We are looking for a talented and competitive Sales Representative to identify prospects, build a pipeline, and assist the Director of Commercial Operations in closing sales opportunities within Power & Gas marketing and bulk power operations organizations throughout North America. The successful candidate will play a key role in achieving our ambitious customer acquisition and revenue growth objectives. You must be comfortable making dozens of calls per day, working with channel partners, generating interest, qualifying prospects and interacting with technical support and development staff.
SoftSmiths suite of fully SaaS-based applications includes Power & Gas Load Forecasting, Trade Capture, Position Management, Renewable Energy Credit Management, Risk Management, Scheduling, ISO Settlement and Shadow Settlement, Wholesale Checkout and Billing, NAESB-compliant Electronic Tagging and Transmission Management, Pricing and Multi-Owned Generation Scheduling.
Essential Functions:
- Source new sales opportunities through inbound lead follow-up and outbound cold calls and emails
- Establish friendly relations with prospects and maintain ongoing relations with them until they are passed off to the Director of Commercial Operations
- Manage the CRM database of prospects and contact them regularly
- Achieve quarterly “New Sales Opportunity Quotas”
- Understand the needs and expectations of the prospects and briefly discuss relevant solutions
- Determine who the key players are – decision maker, recommenders, etc. – and their motivations behind their request for information
- Determine the prospect’s time frame for making a decision
- Determine who the competitors are for this opportunity, both internal and external
- Route qualified opportunities to the Director of Commercial Operations for further development and closure
- Research accounts, identify key players and generate interest
- Present prospect status reports on a weekly basis
- Maintain and expand your database of prospects
- Schedule online demos with prospects
- Periodically attend trade shows
Qualifications:
- Proven inside & outside software sales experience
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with high level of confidence
- Track record of over-achieving quota
- Strong listening and presentation skills
- Strong phone presence and experience dialing dozens of calls per day
- Ability to analyze the market and target potential clients
- Proficient in handling CRM software and other common computer software such as Power Point, Excel, MS Word and Outlook
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
- BA/BS degree or equivalent with 4 years of professional experience in sales
